Javon Hargrave is a defensive tackle for the San Francisco 49ers. He joined the team as a free agent in March 2021 after spending his first four seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Hargrave was selected by the Steelers in the third round (89th overall) of the 2016 NFL Draft out of South Carolina State University. In his rookie season, he played in all 16 games and recorded 27 tackles, 2 sacks, and 1 pass defensed. Over the next three seasons, Hargrave established himself as one of the top interior defenders in the league, earning a reputation as a strong run-stuffer and effective pass rusher.
In 2020, Hargrave had a career year with the Steelers, setting personal bests in tackles (5.5), sacks (10.5), and quarterback hits (15). His performance earned him a big payday from the 49ers, who signed him to a four-year deal worth up to $80 million.
